Parktronic (PTS) system

PTS provides the driver with information on distance to an obstacle at the parking of the car.

At the movement the forward course activates only front sensors. At the movement are controlled by a backing both back, and a risk zone lobby.

The system joins automatically when turning a key in the ignition lock in situation 2 and remains active until the speed of the movement of the car does not exceed value in 15 km/h, - shutdown of system is also made automatically.
Repeated activation of PTS happens at reduction in the rate of the movement of the car below a boundary of 15 km/h.

There is a possibility of compulsory shutdown of PTS by means of the switch installed on console section of the dashboard (see the Section Governing bodies and the equipment of salon).

Serviceability of functioning of the Parktronic system to a great extent depends on extent of pollution of the forward and back bumpers of ultrasonic sensors which are built in in slips. Hindrances can bring ultrasound sources (including squeal of pneumatic brakes of trucks).

The forward zone of risk is controlled by six ultrasonic sensors which are built in in an overlay of a front bumper (two in the middle and on two on corners, back - four sensors in a rear bumper. Range of operation of sensors makes 100 cm for the central forward sensors, 60 cm for angular forward sensors, 120 cm for the central back sensors and 80 cm for extreme back sensors. The minimum admissible distance between the sensor and an obstacle makes 15 cm for angular sensors and 20 cm for central, the sensitivity threshold is broken further. Special light indicators are provided on the dashboard (see an illustration 15.1) and in assembly of the back saloon lamp.

Indicators are divided into two sections on 6 yellow and 2 red segments in everyone, - completeness of activation of segments corresponds to distance to the next obstacle. The 3-second acoustic signal warns about dangerous approach to an obstacle (activation of red segments of indicators) of the driver.

At connection of an electrical wiring of the trailer to the turnbuckle socket (at the corresponding complete set of the car) the system is automatically disconnected.

In case of violation of serviceability of functioning of PTS red segments of all light indicators of system are activated and the 3-second acoustic signal is given, - check purity of surfaces of bumpers. In case of need drive away the car on Mercedes-Benz car repair shop for performance of necessary recovery repair of system.
