Mercedes-Benz cars of a class M (W163)
The SUV of the M-class (W163) presented by the Mercedes-Benz company to the world market in 1997 on the type belongs to cars of sports and economic appointment (SUV).
Favourably differs from the majority of SUV ML cars in the increased level of comfort and safety: finishing of salon, excellent ergonomics, a frame design of a body, deformation zone, 8 safety cushions which are included in a basic equipment and so forth.
The range of the power units installed on the Mercedes-Benz cars of the M-class is presented by eight engines: six petrol (111.977 - ML 230, 112.942 - ML 320, 112.970 - ML 350, 113.942 - ML 430, 113.981 - ML 55 AMG and 113.965 - ML 500) and two diesel (612.963 - ML 270 CDI and 628.963 - ML 400 CDI). The transmission line is organized by 5/6 step manual box of gear shifting / 5-ступенчатой-staged transmission with electronic control and separately the assembly of RKPP/AT installed behind the transfer case, two driveshafts connected to in differentials of the main transfers of forward and back leading bridges. As the drive of model ML are among 4WD-Full Time (which is constantly included in the four-wheel drive) in which distribution of torque between forward and back bridges is carried out automatically under control of the electronic block.
Forward suspension bracket completely independent. Assembly of the forward bridge is formed by the torsion bar / stabilizer of cross stability, two lower triangular cross levers connected among themselves by a stretcher. The suspension bracket of the bridge is organized by means of two telescopic shock-absorbers, the top triangular cross levers and two longitudinal torsion springs (bars).
Back suspension bracket also completely independent. Assembly of the back bridge is formed by the torsion bar / stabilizer of cross stability and two lower triangular cross levers connected among themselves by a stretcher. The suspension bracket of the bridge is organized by means of two damping racks with screw springs, the top cross triangular levers and two longitudinal extensions.
For safety of the movement of model of the M-class are equipped with electronic antistrange system (system of stabilization of stability - ESP), the amplifier of emergency brake application (BAS), system of anti-blocking of brakes (ABS) and system of distribution of brake forces (EBV).
The standard brake system - hydraulic, double-circuit with the vacuum amplifier. Brake mechanisms of all wheels - disk. The foot drive of the parking brake is used.
In the drive of steering the hydrostrengthened rack transfer with valvate entrance knot and two cross steering drafts is used, hydrostrengthening is organized according to the scheme (SPS), sensitive to speed of the movement of the car, that allows to facilitate significantly "taxiing" at parkings, and also increases safety of management at the movement with high speeds.
